Booty Rash advice

So I need some advice girls!

For the past few days my poor baby girl has had a bright red diaper rash on her little bum every time after she poops! She is never in a wet diaper long (I change her frequently) and never in poop long either! 95% of the time I see her trying to poop and change it right away. So it's not like she is sitting in poop long for it to give her a rash. She hasn't tried any new foods lately, so that can't be it! But I feel so bad for her! Especially when I go to clean her and the wipes sting! I have been using so wet washcloths or paper towels, since the cleaning agent in the wipes seem to sting her. I've been lathering her up with diaper rash cream, which seems to help right after. But after she poops it looks really bad! Even her vaginal area is a bit red too, which is making me worry she has a yeast infection or something? I don't know what to do. I could call the doctor but I'm not sure it's that big of a deal. I was just gonna watch it and if it didn't get better take her next week.

I'm just wondering what could possibly cause it! It's not like we tried new soap or food or detergent or anything. And it only gets bright red when she poops! It's a mystery. I am wondering if it could be the scrambled eggs? But she was eating them before and didn't get this rash after she pooped! I just feel so bad for her.

Any thoughts? Thanks for stopping by to read about my girl's poop and booty....ha!

Poor little one! I don't know what to suggest. My girls ended up with medicated cream for a few bad rashes but otherwise we just use zinc based creams. I wonder if including a probiotic in her diet could help if it is diet related or if you need something topical. Good luck!

Maloxx is supposed to be good for rash. Never used it. Avery's never had that bad a rash bc she has hard poops that dont cause rash. Good luck.

When my son was teething he had the worst rash ever. For at least a week straight. And it looked like little popped blisters. You might wanna ask your dr for some stronger prescription ointment. I hope it goes away soon because i know how that feels when our babies are hurting.

Try coconut oil. It is sold in the oil section of the gorcery store. I know many people who swear by it. So sorry that your girl isn't feeling well.

Is she cutting new teeth? The only time Molly has rash is when she was teething and then it was on her little giney to. It was very red and sore. Hard in winter but nappy free time helps!

I just wanted to add that the coconut oil is organic and used for cooking for it is safe for little ones.

Our doctor said to use Vagisil - it has a numbing agent and puts up a light barrier. We just started doing it today, so not sure how well it will work!

Like the girls above said, teething sometimes does it to Stella. The other thing we figured out was that citrus/acidic foods burn her bottom now. The worst culprit is tomato - have you been giving her spaghetti sauce, oranges, etc? We have to totally avoid those now (until she is potty trained I guess!).

Wow, yeah, could be anything causing it. If it is bumpy, especially with white bumps, it is yeast and you need a prescription cream from the dr. Otherwise, what we always have to do is leave them to air out for a long time, then put butt paste on when they have diapers on - only for when Addy has a rash because butt cream actually gets in and irritates vaginas (according to my pedi when we took her in because she said her crotch hurt), so she gets A&D ointment when no rash and butt paste when rashy. I agree with others - teething can do this or citrus-y fruits. Good luck hun!

Poor lil bum bum!! Hope her rash clears up soon. Maybe try a new cream? Or maybe it could be teething like the others above mentioned. Also, I agree with acidic foods, that's happened here! Miss you and your updates. Hope you are well. How's the day home gig going?

This definitely sounds like a teething rash. We use bag balm. It is usually sold in a small green tin can and we bought ours at a farm feed store as it was originaly intended for cow udders. I swear by it. We have never head a rash that lasted longer than 24hrs even the worst ones. In fact we just had one last night and it was gone by this morning.
Good luck momma. Nothing worse than hurting babies.

My SIL is a nurse and she told me to use Lanolin...yep same thing we use for nursing! Cleared up rashes for all 3 of my kids, plus for my friend's son.

Second to that coconut oil (which we use a mosturizer as well.)

We have that issue...conner gets an aveeno oatmeal bath when it gets really bad.

I have no advice for Sam's cute little booty, so I'm glad so many other ladies do! I hope you have luck with some of these, hope she feels better by her big day!!!

I'd say teething, too. We tried everything to clear it up and finally the doctor said to try 1% hydrocortisone cream 2-3 times a day and keep diaper rash cream on it the rest of the day. Good luck!

Lanolin, Breast Milk and Maalox are the three BEST cures for diaper rass.I no longer have breast milk or keep Lanolin in stock, so Maalox does the trick. I use the mint flavored (don't know why or if that matters?!?) We have diaper rashes when we have anything citrus, any juice (even mixed with water)and/or pedeiasure. Also, sometimes excess sugar can cause a diaper rash that is bright red, for example the Pediasure. Hope this helps!
