Ho Ho Ho

Today was a big day! Sam had her follow-up developmental doctor appointment. Last time we saw them was in July I believe. She did great! Is right on track with her adjusted age. Even ahead in some areas (cognitive) and a teeny bit lazy is some areas (motor skills). But overall she is doing great and they have no concerns. They said they think she will start crawling in a month or two probably. One thing that concerned me that I spoke with them about was her eating habits. How she doesn't seem very into sold foods and certain textures she gags on, etc. They weren't surprised because apparently many preemies who were tube fed at some point have some eating issues. Plus, her reflux they said could have taught her that what goes down is probably coming up! So she may be "extra gaggy." They referred us to this food counselor of sorts on tips on how to make the eating experience a better one for her!

Andddd Samantha got to meet Santa today!!!! Love these pictures!! I just love her so much.

She told Santa that she wants a Red Rider BB Gun for Christmas...

Santa told her that she would shoot her eye out!

"Mom, this headband is giving me elf ears. Was that your plan all along? Santa and his elf? Ugh."

Just wanted to reassure you that Sam is certainly not alone on the eating issues. Addison does HORRIBLE when it comes to eating solids. One thing we have found to work really well with her is baby-led weaning. It seems that she does better with food when it enters her mouth on her terms. She gags on any sort of puree but seems to do okay eating toddler rice husks (strange, I know) Anyway, I'm kinda hoping that you will share what you learn from your food counselor!

And I've been meaning to tell you, she is all sorts of adorable!!

No those pictures with Santa are ADORABLE! I love it!!! And I'm so glad she is doing so well! Did they send you to an OT? If not, you might consider one - many specialize in infant eating issues:). Good luck!

Happy to here baby Sam is doing well! You must love getting a good report at the doctor. Shane was extra gaggy for some reason. We just took it slow and in a few months tried the foods again and then he was better. She will get it. She is doing so awesome! And the Santa pics!!! Ahhhhhhh! Even the crying one. Too cute for words!

I love three pics of Sam with Santa. Especially the one of them looking at each other. :) glad her appt went so well and that she's right on track. I agree with the PP, definitely try out baby-led weaning. I highly recommend it. We are doing it and it is so easy, good for motor skills and fun to watch them choose what to eat and put it in their own mouths. Google baby-led weaning and there's a book you can buy too!
