Quick Update on our little miracle

Hi everyone! Thank you so much for all your well wishes and prayers! The last few days have been so crazy that I haven't had the time or energy really to update. But I know how I love to stalk my blog friends when Im hoping to hear important updates from them, so I didn't want to leave you all hanging...

Our sweet little girl is doing okay. In the NICU and will probably be there for a month or more. She is breathing room air, which is good. But has a mask sort of thing over her nose to help with air pressure. She has trouble taking in a lot of air at once. They have started feeding her but she doesn't always keep it down. I have started pumping but nothing much yet...

Each day is different, but for the most part she is doing well.

I have to say the NICU is one of the scariest places on Earth. There has not been one day that I have been up there where I have not cried at her bed side. All I want to do is scoop her up and run out  of there! Its really so so hard.  It's been tough, but today was a little better. After my surgery I couldn't have contact with her for 24 hours because I was on this magnesium medicine for the pre eclampsia. We finally got to hold her today! And I could go up without a wheelchair. I'm still in quite a bit of pain, but I think its getting better every day. We are here in the hospital until Monday.

We are so in love with our little girl. She is the most beautiful little peanut I have ever seen. My heart is just overflowing....

My favorite thing is to give her my pinky and she wraps her little tiny hand around it. Or when I sing "You are my sunshine" to her and she calms right down...

I promise to post a pic soon. In all our pics she is covered in wires, so its a little scary, but I promise I will get one up soon :) As well as the crazzzzyy birth story!

Thank you so much for all your prayers! Please keep them coming for our girl :)

Keep singing to her, Sara. And keep pumping. It may be worth a visit with the hospital's lactation consultant to help with dealing with pumping and maintaining a supply while Samantha is in the NICU. It will take a few days for your supply to come in. Don't fret. You can do it!

Congrats on your little one! I'm also a preemie mom (35 weeks 1 day). When my son was born he had to be on a CPAP too. I hope Samantha can be weaned off it soon.

I thought I'd pass along a link to a great blog with all kinds of information about preemies and the NICU. A few preemie moms from The Bump put it together. It's kinda new but a GREAT source of information. http://www.preemiemomblog.blogspot.com/

Keeping your family in my thoughts and prayers!

I am glad to hear that you all are doing well. Being on room air is HUGE!!!! Keep singing. I used to sing to the boys while in the NICU all the time! Keep pumping. It will come, just remember to rest and stay hydrated as well. Will continue to pray for you all and have been thinking of you all as well!

Samantha is beautiful even with being hooked up to crap! I am so happy I got to meet her yesterday and I can't wait to see her again! Love you all so much and praying every single day for you guys! Remember, Samantha is a fighter and that "fiestiness" the nurse said she has will go a long way for her! Go Samantha go!!

I am so happy for you Sarah! I'm sure Samantha is such a little doll and so beautiful. Praying that she will continue to thrive and that her time in the NICU will fly by. Also that you have an easy recovery. You've been down such a long, crazy road and I only hope for smooth sailing from here on out! :)

i'm so glad that she's doing so well. i'm sure she'll be home before you know it! my brother's baby was born about 8 weeks early and had to be in NICU for about a month. he was only a little over 3lbs when he was born, but he is now a very active, very strong & healthy one year old and you'd never know to look at him that he was a preemie. take care and stay strong! hugs!
