Turned my frown upside down...

I was kind of having a "blah" day today. Just stressing about money and what not. Usually listening to Christmas music in the car can cheer me up, but not this morning. However, when I got home from picking up a few groceries I went and checked my email. And there was some very exciting/hopeful/crazygood news from a blogger buddy. It definitely turned my frown upside down and sent me into a tizzy of happiness for her. I can't disclose details as they are not mine to share. But, I will say with lots of hope and prayers my friend's dream may finally come true. So I am happy right now :)

As I mentioned in my last post, we signed up for our childbirth and breastfeeding classes. As well as a maternity tour. We were shocked though to find out that the childbirth class is set in FOUR three hour classes! That means 12 hours of baby birthin lessons. We were both like "Holllyyy crap." Seems like way to much. Heck, I may not even be in labor for 12 hours haha Hoping anyways. 12 hours of class just seems a  little excessive to me. I know there is probably a lot to learn but yikes. My friend Lauren was joking about it saying " What are they gonna teach you to do a home birth or something?" And I'm like "No, they're probably teaching us to do our own c-section at home using kitchen utensils." :) Ahhhh, it's fun to joke. Anyone who's taken a childbirth class before, was yours 12 hours??

Holy hunger and heartburn. Would it be strange of me to say that I've never experienced heartburn before until now? Last week and this week I had been getting this weird pressure/burning type sensation in my chest/throat. And since I've never felt heartburn before I didn't automatically think it was that. But my husband confirmed that it was. So I bought my first container of tums today and we'll see if that helps. It seem to be really bad when I was laying in bed last night. And the hunger is out of control. I noticed babycenter mentioned with my last weekly update that I should expect to be more hungry now. They aren't kidding!! Even when I eat a semi well balanced meal, I'm satisfied for about a half hour and then my stomach is growling like I haven't eaten anything all day! It's so awful and I'm sick of eating. I try to eat little snacks here and there. But I just get hungry so fast after eating. Even when I eat well, like protein, fruit, veggies. It doesn't matter what I eat, baby isn't satisfied with it I guess? Do I just accept this as normal for now or is something wrong with me?? I basically have to eat a piece of toast before bed just to get to sleep and then I wake up about 3-4 with a hunger that feels like it's clawing out my stomach. Making eggs at 4 am is something that has been happening a lot around this joint. This morning I had oatmeal around 7am by 10am I felt like I hadn't eating anything in days. Please tell me this is normal.

Last night I did some "fun" googling to see what people say about symptoms you have, if you're having a boy or girl. I didn't really find much except that a lot of women said they dreamt about what they were having. And I thought to myself " I haven't dreamed anything about this gender of my baby." All along I've had a strong feeling this baby is a boy. But then last night, I had a dream it was a girl! haha  Two more days people. Two more days.

I'm really itching to do our xmas cards, but they won't be ready until the end of next week. Boooo. I'm one of those people that find it fun to send out xmas cards and address/decorate the envelopes :)

Our classes were that long too!

My fingers and toes are crossed for that blogger friend as well. I started bawling when I read her email!

Our hospital birth class would've been 12 hrs too I think. Instead we did a 6 hr class but also a TON of home study hours. If we'd have done all in class hours, it would've been 18. There really is a lot to learn, and I think it will help you feel more calm on that day if you have an idea of what is going on in your body and in the hospital room, etc.

I had never had heartburn before either - my hubby also had to tell me what it was! Tums are okay, but don't help me for much or for long. I sparingly use Pepcid now too b/c it works so much better.

You're not crazy for being hungry all the time - just keep eating well balanced, HIGH protein meals. Eventually the hunger will drop off a little.

I've never had a gender dream during this pregnancy. Hm.

I LOOOOVE Christmas cards too. So excited to do cards/birth announcements this year. :)

Ours would have been 12 hours, however, baby made an early entrance after the first one, so we only got the benefit of 3 hours! I think that one thing that they do a lot of (at least from what I have been told) is teaching the partner massage techniques and how to help you out.

Our hospital class was 3 hours and included a maternity ward tour. I wouldn't say the class was 100% needed but it was helpful and I am happy that we went to it. It is nice to "kinda" know what to expect. They went over policies & procedures of the hospital which was nice. I had a dream with both my kids what I was having and it camt to be true both times. Also te Gender Chart on thebump.com was right for both pregnancies. You only have a few more days to go!!!

I tried Tums and Pepcid for HB but I found that Zantac absolutely works the best for me right now. Try all of them and see what works best for you!

I do Christmas cards every year too and I too put decorations on the envelopes.

As for being hungry...isn't that normal?

Our classes were that long too. Each one really focused on a different topic, so they didn't seem bad at all. Here's what they covered:
1. How to tell if you are in labor, stages of labor, etc.
2. Breathing and relaxation techniques to use during labor.
3. Medical interventions during labor and delivery
4. Review and hospital tour (the tour was really comprehensive)

Can't WAIT to hear the gender!!!

Yeah, our class was painfully long. I think they could definitely condense it. But still good info.

I never had heartburn until pregnancy either. It sucks!! Laying on my left side (as opposed to the right) seems to help, but yeah, I eat Tums daily now.

And I had no idea what we were having prior to the scan. I mean, I thought "I bet there's at least one boy", but considering that the odds of that were 75%, I don't really place much value on it.

hunger=super normal!!! I was always hungry! always.

I think the old wives tale is that if you dream of a gender you are actually pregnant with the opposite :P

I am so excited you had a dream about it being a girl!! The dream theory hasn't gone wrong for me with my kids or other peoples either lately!! As for the heartburn, if Tums doesn't work try Maalox, it was a miracle worker for me. The hunger is normal, baby is hungry in there! Lots of small meals/snacks are good, if I eat oatmeal at 7 I would be starving by 10 and I'm not eating for 2 :)

I'm so glad I did the birthing classes because I was SO proud to be able to go to something for pregnant people! It felt like I was finally part of the "it" group. The other couples at ours were super lame though, so that was a bummer!

I was the same way with heartburn. I FREAKED when I got it pregnant b/c I'd never had it and didn't know what the heck it was!

I'm still down for a girl! :)
