I'll take the Orange flavor please...

I had my (very delayed) glucose test today. The receptionist gave me the choice of orange flavor, lime or fruit punch. I chose the orange. I was nervous when the nurse came out to give me the (rather large) cup and told me I only had 5 minutes to drink it!! I was hoping I could just sip at it for awhile, but I guess that's not how they roll. She then told me when I finished (speed chugging) it that I was to give the cup to the receptionist and they would start the hour timer. Surprisingly, the orange drink wasn't so bad. It was sort of like orange soda (which I like to partake in sometimes) except it was thicker, much sweeter and no carbonation. Not something I'd like to drink again, but definitely didn't make me run for a garbage can, so that's good.

The hour went fairly quick and then they called me back. Took my weight (holy cow, literally), took a urine sample (which had my usual trace of protein in it), took my BP (which was in a normal range) and then took my blood for the glucose test. Which I assume they will contact me in a few days to let me know if I passed or failed. Really praying I don't have GD!!!! It's seriously the last thing we need on our plate right now. One thing I don't like about this practice is that I have to fish for answers. Like for example with my BP, I had to ask if it was normal. And with my urine I had to ask if there was protein in it. They never just offer the info up! And I was worried about getting answers from what was happening at the appt that I totally forgot to ask her a few questions. Like if all the pressure I have been feeling is normal and all the bathroom trips and feeling like my bladder is full right after I leave the bathroom! But I think I will call tomorrow and ask everything I forgot to. The NP also checked the baby's heartbeat on the doppler. She found it right away in the 150's! And Samantha even gave her a kick. I had asked her how often I should feel her and she said I should feel ten kicks by 10am! Which seems like a lot to me. I definitely feel her throughout the day but she is most active after dinner and at night. So now she has me a little freaked that maybe she isn't moving enough?? I would hate having to obsess about her kicks.

So next Tuesday we have our second growth scan with the MFM (maternal fetal medicine doctor for those who don't know) and we are PRAYING her arms and legs have grown. The NP today did talk a little about this and she said they didn't see any markers for downs/dwarfism in their scans. And that she really thinks she will just be a peanut. But of course she can't say for sure, but it was nice to hear that in all their organ/body part scans she looked beautiful. And then the day after our MFM appt next week I have to go back to the OB's for my rhogam shot. And then I'm off to the new OB! I think it will be a good change. I really do think it's the right way to go and I'm glad we didn't just back down and stay with the first hospital...

After my appointment, my mom met me for lunch and then she came over to the house to help me sort through some baby things. She helped me (well she did most of it!) put up the wall decals which I absolutely love! They look so good! But let me tell you they are a PAIN IN THE ASS to put up :) My mom and I were swearing like truck drivers. The first one was sort of easy but the second one with more words was AWFUL. However, in the end it was fine and they look great! I MIGHT post a nursery "sneak peek" photo tomorrow :) There's still a bunch to be done. But I might give you girls a looksie.

We also went through some more baby clothes and hung them in the closet. And her closet is exploding with cuteness. This girl has an insane amount of clothes! I am going to have to change her 5 times a day just to use it all! :)

do you realise that you have only 72 days to go - reeeediculous!

I am sure peanut is just a peanut

Good luck on the GD test, I agree it would be rather annoying if they put that one on you too. mwah!

I though the orange drink wasn't horrid either. :) As far as results, I think most fertiles don't know to even worry about things like protein in their urine, so the nurse isn't used to bothering to share that info. Try not to worry about it if they're mum - they'll let you know if it's in the time-to-worry range!

I tried counting kicks for awhile, but it made me neurotic and scared, so I quit. Not sure if that's good advice or not, but it's what I did. My midwife told me 10 kicks per 2 hrs... and that sometimes you'll not feel a think for 1h45, and all 10 the last 15 min, and that's okay - they're just often sleeping! Stella was more active at night as well. If you're really worried, drink some OJ and lay down for TWO FULL HOURS. I found that if i didn't concentrate on my belly (and was reading/watching TV instead), I often missed kicks b/c I was so used to feeling them.

Praying for great growth tomorrow!

Agreed on the decals - the words were a pain in the ass for me too, but I love how it looks, and everyone compliments me on it.

Post a nursery preview since you're holding out on doing many belly shots!

I wish I had a choice, I had the fruit punch (a flavor I don't care for).

I hope all of the results are ok. I am sure they are fine, esp peanut!!!!!

Re: glucose test. They may call you saying it's a little high but that DOESN'T mean you have GD. I had to go back for the longer test and I was fine. It happens to many women. I dunno if you are on "the bump.com" board for your birth month but I know on mine many women had to take the second test and most of them were fine.

Re: kicks. I had to go for weekly tests cause my anterior placenta cushioned most of the kicks until I was quite far along. The machine picked up movement I wasn't even feeling. I was never told anything about a number of kicks by a certain time. When doing kick counts at home, I was told to count for an hour at a time when she was normally more active. If I didn't feel 10 in an hour they said do another hour. And remember they can not do anything for 30 mins and then suddenly kick 10 times in a minute! ANY movement, not matter how small counts. Don't stress about them :)

When do they call about th GD results??? Really keeping my fingers crossed you don't have another thing to add to your list. Hey, at least your bp is good lol! As for the peeing and movement I'm in the same fricken boat as you! I think it's normal. This whole thing is such a guessing game! :p. def post some sneak pics, can't wait to see!! xoxo

Ahhhhh! I love picturing her exploding closet and I am getting (even MORE) excited to meet her!!!!! (Starting to really freak out about how close my vacation is to her due date though...... Oh please lil princess, come early or come late (preferably early for your Mom's sake) but please don't come right on time!! LOL OK, I am being selfish. I will stop now.

Wow! I can't even imagine how nice it must be to hand baby clothes in the closet. Envious for sure. Hope you don't have GD.

Glad the test went well. sounds like things are going well for you right now! I would have loved to see you and your mom swearing like truck drivers in the nursery, lol! How nice it must be to have your mom helping you with those things - mine lives very far away so we were never able to do that stuff together. And, as far as clothes, my kids had SO many clothes they either 1) wore once or 2) never wore. Especially when they were very itty bitty because I was SO tired and didn't really get them dressed every day - they stayed in their comfy onesies and sleepers! Getting so excited! And PLEASE post sneak peak pictures:).

I didn't think the drink was too bad either. My OB's office didn't call with the results since I passed, they just told me at my next appointment.

Also, my doctor always said that every little movement the baby made counted as a 'kick' so they might get all 10 kicks in a few minutes. That really helped me to feel more relaxed since my baby really didn't seem to make big movements.
