From my fingers to my toes...

I have to say I'm actually interested in finding out what my blood sugars are throughout the day. It's becoming almost a game to me. Even though my poor little pudgy fingers are hurtin' already. Last night after dinner my levels were pretty high. This morning before and after breakfast were within a normal range. We'll see what my after lunch reading shows. I've been trying really hard adjust my diet with the things we already have in the house. I'm probably not grocery shopping until Thursday or Friday. I just want to thank you all for your support over my last GD post! You girls sure know how to make me feel like I can get through this :) So thanks!

Just a little while ago as I was making lunch, I looked down at my feet and was shocked! My ankles and feet are so swollen!! Like REALLY swollen. Worst I've seen them yet. I hope my blood pressure is okay. I think the swollen-ness could be from when I was sitting at the kitchen table and reading over the diabeetus info. We have one of those high tables and my feet were dangling off the chair for awhile. So maybe that's why they got so swollen? Right now I'm just laying on the couch with my feet up and hoping the swelling goes down...

By the way, my countdown widget ticker with the baby floating around in the bubble? Well, it's starting to creep me out because they baby looks to be about four years old :) However, the "Lil Peanut" Lilypie ticker I'm loving because it's soooo close to the 40 week mark!!!!

***Just wanted to update you all that I had a great blood sugar day! All four times it was within or lower than normal range! Woo-hoo! It was my first day of really trying to adjust my diet too, so maybe I CAN do this :) ****

I didn't have GD but I was reeeeeally swollen. My size 6 feet could barely fit into size 8 shoes by the end of the day. At the beginning of my pg, a friend told me to get Birkenstocks and I refused because they aren't my style... well, once my feet started swelling, I got a pair and they were the best. I gave birth in December and despite the snow, they were the only shoes that I wore lol.

I took a prenatal yoga class and my teacher would put me in the legs up the wall position which is not easy to do when pg but was really helpful for swelling. Maybe if you search prenatal yoga poses on Google, you could find it?

My hands were swollen too and I had pg induced carpal tunnel. I didn't even know that existed. I couldn't wear my wedding rings from 4 months pg until 7 months postpartum.

The good news is that my hands and feet are back to normal other than sometimes having to go up a shoe size.

Hang in there! GD doesn't sound easy at all!

Making a game out of it sounds like something I would do to get me through it also. Hey, whatever works, right?

Ahhh Memories!
I also had the swollen feet and hands. I couldn't wear shoes or rings on my finger. I ended up buying bigger shoes in a wide width. I hardly recognized my feet and hands for months so don't worry, they will go back to normal after your baby girl has arrived. The only thing that worked for me was elevating my feet up on a pillow. The end is near and soon you will have that baby in your arms :)

Thats a positive way to get through it make a family of it. I like it. Sorry you have to keep sticking yourself I know that feeling though I am getting used to my injections. Sounds like you need to stay with your feet up for a bit though I'm sure swelling in the last tri is common.

You might be having a little extra fluid in your system that might make things a bit more awkward. Have you thought about watermelon? I've known some pregnant that love it because it reduces the swelling from all the extra fluid.

Hi Sarah - Hopped over to your blog from The Kasun Family blog and totally agree that the little 'baby' looks like a toddler. How funny. :) Congrats on the baby and I'll be watching for pictures of the little bean!

Consider me a new follower!

I was going to ask how your sugars were. That's awesome that you did so well yesterday and had good numbers! How's the swelling today? And I have to agree, that baby ticker is creepy and doesn't look like a baby at all! Weird!

My feet swelled horribly with both my girls. I could only wear sneakers or sandals the last few weeks. I am now a size 8 (was a 7 1/2 prior to my pregnancies) and my daughter is almost 4, so I think I'm there to stay. ;0) Putting my feet up helped but the swelling still lasted the whole pregnancy.

I've had friends that have had GD and I know it's not easy. Sounds like you're on the right track!
