Crummy Crohn's

I had to leave work early today because of a Crohn's "flare-up." Not fun at all. AF is over and now I have more stomach pain thanks to crummy Crohn's. I'm honestly terrified that I even have Crohn's Disease. I'm on the hunt for a new GI doctor because I'm not happy with the one that I have. As of right now, I'm not on any medication that treats Crohn's. Which I find very odd. He took me off the Lialda and put me on a simple stomach spasm medication. Which has been helping. But now I'm having all these problems and pain and it worries the hell out of me. Two of my cousins have Crohn's as well. And one of them was recently hospitalized for it! So scary! It's like Crohn's is the (sarcastic) cherry on top of my infertile cake. It makes me so mad. I think especially because after my colonoscopy the dr said it didn't look like I had Crohn's. Then a month and half later I get a letter (not a phone call!) that I had Crohn's disease. Very frustrating.

In other news, unrelated to the bottom half of my body, my heart is with Japan and Hawaii today. I feel horrible for Japan and I was so scared for Hawaii. Thankfully, the people I know from Hawaii are all ok. It reminded me of when I lived there and we would pass all the the tsunami warning sirens. Scary. Really scary. I thankfully, never heard them go off...

Unfortunately, with me feeling so sick today we couldn't go to my hubby's cousin's play. Bummer. But I am hoping I wake up feeling so much better so we can go ahead with our date night tomorrow!

My husband works for a company that installs certain things in peoples homes. Like how I went around that without giving the name of the company away? :) Well, today he happened to end up at the house of the sister of a guy we went to school with. Somehow, they got talking about being married and having kids. Turns out she is pregnant with triplets! And she and her husband struggled with infertility for five years! My husband said she was so unbelievably sweet about it. Saying that if I ever needed to talk, to get a hold of her. That she knows exactly how hard this all is. Turns out she goes (or did go, past tense!) to the same clinic as me. Not that I love hearing about ANOTHER woman having had trouble like this, but it makes my a heart swell up huge at the hand she reached out to me. It's kind of like this war we fight and we are all soldiers trying to fight off the same bad guy. Feels like a sisterhood or something...

And I've always wanted sisters :)

Ugh..so sorry you've been feeling sick all day. I know how you feel about 'the cherry on the top'..that's what I said to my doctor when we found out about the septum. Like, seriously? I finally ovulate and now this?? It's just not fair. I hope you feel better soon...

So scary what's going on in the world right now. The footage is just heartbreaking..

You should totally meet up with her for coffee or something! I know it would be good for you. I know you two would be able to talk for hours about this stuff...and it's good to relate to other women on a personal basis :)

That's so neat to have an IF friend in real life!! I'd call her up right away!

Hope you feel better soon...

I hope you feel better soon and can find a new GI doc soon. That sucks.
Wow pregnant with 3!! My worst nightmare by the way, that would totally freak me out, just from a health stand point of the babies. Wishing her the best of luck.

I'm confused. Are you officially diagnosed with Crohn's or not? I ask because I seem to recall you mentioning you suspected endometriosis (correct me if I'm wrong, it' may have been another blogger)
I have endometriosis on my colon...it's actually fused to my uterus :( It has a lot of effect on my system and thought I should mention it to you. Endometriosis is linked to soooo many autoimmune disease (it's also often MISTAKEN for other disease)...this is why it takes an average of 10 years from onset of symptoms to a diagnosis. Something to consider if you aren't 100% convinced it's Crohn's.

Knowing people IRL that have struggled with IF is really a special experience. It's amazing how the other person just "get's you" better than friends and family who've known you for years....

Hope you feel better soon :( I didn't know you definetely had Chron's either, looking for a new GI doc is prob a good idea, it's always good to get another opinion.
I def think you should meet up with the girl you mentioned too, having someone who you can relate to is so important!

Hey...yes I'm pretty much in total disbelief that it's 3rd trimester...
Regarding my laparoscopy:
It took a lot of convincing my doctor to do it sooner rather than later (he ended up doing it 6 months earlier than he originally thought necessary...thankfully it was worth it to be diagnosed with stage 4 endo 6 months sooner!)
As for what it entails...it's a surgery that is done through the belly button. You are in the OR and you are obviously not awake the whole time. For me the anessthesia was scary...I was crying when I fell asleep and so I woke up crying and panicking...but otherwise I was fine.
Basically they put a small incision in your belly button for a camera to look at the organs and then another small incision near your pubic bone for the instruments to remove anything they find. In my case the largest removal was an endometrioma (cyst) on my ovary...as far as pain goes the recovery was less painful than the pain of the cyst when it was still in there.
Most people recover very quickly (about a week or two). My doctor gave me 6 weeks off work but that's because I was working with small children at the time and had to do a lot of bending and stretching in that general area.
It's not too bad and it's worth it if to get a definite answer about endo...at worst it will be something to scratch off the list of possible causes of pain.
Don't be shy to ask me anything else :)
